About

Children are often left out of conversations regarding human rights even though children are particularly vulnerable to, and are often the target of human rights abuses. Our international panel of experts will focus on issues relating to “invisible” children, particularly intersex children, transitional justice, policy and advocacy, and early childhood socialisation as strategies for protecting and safeguarding the human rights of children.

The four-member panel will include Victoria Mwangi, Deputy Director at Kenya National Commission on Human Rights; Dr. Saudamini Siegrist, an Associate with Humanitarian Partnerships and Development International (HPDI) and formerly a senior advisor for Child Protection in Emergencies at UNICEF; Dr Kibaya Laibuta, the Managing Partner at the law firm Laibuta & Associates, and the drafter of the Kenya Children Bill 2020; and Leslee Udwin, a human rights advocate and filmmaker who is the founding CEO of Think Equal. Jaslika Director, Dr. Sheila P. Wamahiu, who is a leading expert in education and child rights in East Africa will facilitate the webinar supported by Jaslika Associate, Declan Magero.

This webinar is interactive, so the audience will be able to write-in their questions to the panel members during the course of the webinar.
