The launch of the Girls’ Education Special Interest Group (SIG) platform—led by Amplify Tanzania, Kakenya’s Dream, and Komo Learning Centre—marks more than a new initiative; it signifies a critical moment of reflection for advocates across East Africa. As the global climate for gender equality shifts and funding spaces shrink, the movement faces urgent challenges: not only in securing resources but in confronting the political will required to dismantle entrenched patriarchal narratives. By recovering erased histories and challenging the static view of culture, this new platform seeks to reclaim the agency of African girls and reimagine societies where equality is not merely an ideal, but a lived reality.
